King's Creek Inn at Cape Charles, Virginia
Here's a gem of a Bed and Breakfast! Located on the eastern Shore of Virginia near Cape Charles.
Amazing house, great scenery, and wonderful hosts and outstanding food!
Located on an inlet from the Chesapeake Bay, the King's Creek is accessible from land or water.
Beautiful 3 story old manor house.
From the moment you enter the foyer, you feel like you are at home. The hosts are welcoming and wonderful.
Stroll around the grounds, feel like you went back in time.
The lower level serves as a small, intimate restaurant for dinners and breakfast. On the other side is a bar with pool table, dartboard, and great company.
The 3 level stairway from the entry foyer to the bedrooms on the second and third floors.
You can tour the many wildlife sanctuaries in the area, or go into the town of Cape Charles, or just hang out and appreciate the water and wildlife right in the backyard.
Oh, and did I mention the sunsets?

Horseshoe Farm Park in Raleigh
Horseshoe Farm is located in Northeast Raleigh, and is unique. Even though it is officially a city of Raleigh park, it has never been developed, and is in it's pristine state of a beautiful, but abandoned farm.
Great place to walk or take pictures or contemplate the meaning of life.
The original house, windows still intact!
View of the barn from the yard.
This tool shed makes for great photo opportunities. careful, many wasp nests inside!
Abandoned farm equipment still around
The barn is locked up, wonder what's inside.....

Did I mention it is in the shape of a horseshoe, and is bordered by the Neuse River on 3 sides?

Fort Frederica at St. Simon's Island in Georgia
The ruins at Fort Frederica on St. Simon's Island in Georgia are from a colonial era fort that played a significant role in the Civil War, as well as a point of defense from Spanish attacks.
This is a great National park site, you should visit if you can.
The trees are covered with spanish moss unlike anywhere I have ever seen. It's amazing!
Walking down this "street" is like taking a walk back in time.

North Carolina Aquarium
The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher in North Carolina has really great exhibits and displays. They did a nice job for Halloween, with haunted exhibits and decorations.
The jellyfish always fascinate me the most.
