Poinsettia of the Day

Went to an awesome nursery in Raleigh that had 25,000 poinsettias!
What a great place to shoot!
This is one of my favorites.

The Lantana Twins

So I keep walking past these to the house everyday, I finally decided it would be good to take a picture!

Moonflower

Out of the boredom of a drought, all of a sudden the moonflowers showed up to give us some relief from the otherwise drab landscape.

Flower of the Day

Pastel colors struck me when I took this shot. I made it a softer focus on purpose to emphasize the green, pink and yellow pastels.

Orchid

Came across this orchid I took at the North Carolina Orchid Show in Asheville some time ago.
Still like it....

Mexican Food

OK, I admit I was hungry when I chose this picture.
But, what an amazing enchilada dinner we had in Asheville at Chorizo's restaurant!

Duck

Duck, Duck, Goose.

Well, according to my wife I should have had my nose bitten off by this guy, but he was really laid back and let me up close for this picture.

Raleigh Downtown Skyline

Raleigh, North Carolina downtown skyline. ( As seen on the Fonville Morisey blog July 2011 )

This is my favorite view, taken from the Boylan Ave. bridge on a beautiful Spring morning.

Bee and Flower

When I was taking this flower, I actually didn't see the bumblebee inside, but I heard him!
Look how he is just loaded down with pollen! Amazing!

Ibis

The Ibis Pond at Pinckney Island nature preserve at Hilton Head is like being at Chicago O'hare airport. They just take off and land constantly!

Blue Heron

Look what we found while looking for Alligators.
This blue heron was even more striking sitting on a branch than standing in the water.

Lizard of the Day

This one's for Luci.

Here's your favorite lizard. He was very bold and determined to show off when we were in Hilton Head at the Discovery Museum and Honey Horn Plantation.

Dragonfly

Since I didn't get to it yesterday, here's one I really enjoyed getting, and I admit it was pretty much an accident that it turned out as a silhouetted image.
This dragonfly was posing for me like he knew he was special.

Baynard Ruins

Little known historical place to visit on Hilton Head Island is the Stoney-Baynard plantation ruins site.
Very interesting construction, setting is in the midst of the coastal forest in Sea Pines.
Worth the side trip
